Wedding Vows
Simple wedding vows don't seem so simplistic to many.
Human beings by default tend to complicate things. It is like it
is in our genetic makeup, in our very own DNA to unnecessary complicate
matters. We love the drama and we love the teary-eyed smiles, music
swelling in the background and happily forever afters.
And now, the time has come to embark on your very own happily forever
after. And you get lost in all the planning, the exquisite little
details like table placement cards and the big major details like
the most stunning wedding dress world has ever seen.
Your eye is on the most beautiful flowers, the most succulent wedding
cake, who to invite, where to go on the honeymoon, details, details,
details.
And the stress of will I forget something, will uncle Roger drink
one too many and pester other guests and on and on can be too much.
There is one other thing to stress about and these are your wedding
vows.
Will you come up with the wedding vows yourself or will you use
traditional wedding vows? Should you read a poem or make a solemn
promise? In the entire hustle and bustle you might end up feeling
too stressed out and stumped for words, drawing a blank. Calm down
and take a breath, it's all good, it's going to be fine.
By the mere definition of being human, your tendency might be to
have the need to elaborate and to complicate. You want the whole
world to know why this person is the right one for you, you want
to communicate how much you love them and how much they mean to
you.
Yes, love is complicated but what we humans tend to forget love
is sometimes very simple too. The joy, the liquid bliss running
through your veins, the happiness you are feeling because you have
found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, to
share yourself without hesitation and with an open heart is what
you want to shout out at the top of your lungs.
All of this, however, can be said with simple wedding vows. To
have and to hold, to love and to cherish, in these moments even
the simple "I love you and I do" take on a profound meaning.
It is your wedding day; everything takes on a profound meaning.
And, if you are a nervous public speaker chance is your partner
is already aware of your little secret. He or she will not hold
it against you if you do decide on simple wedding vows to get cut
down on the stress of the ceremony.
Remember, simple words can sometimes best describe what is in your
soul and heart. With all the fuss and details, complications and
dramas, simple wedding vows can be the most profound statement you
make on your wedding day. All you need to simply say is I love you
and I do promise to spend the rest of my life with you. See, sometimes
the simplest things are powerful in their simplicity.
